Stumble It! The technology that is available today has so many uses that one person could not possibly think of all the ways it can and is being used. Unfortunately, as with all good things there are going to be some bad people that figure out a way to use the technology to hurt others or for personal gain. We need to find a way to deal with people that are not using technology as it was intended to be used, without limiting the availability of the technology. We need to make sure that criminal minds do not take away from the rest of the population.

As with many of the technology advancements night vision goggles were created by the military to help with night time operations. Since there release night vision goggles have also been used by sportsmen and other outdoor enthusiasts. Unfortunately some of the users of night vision goggles and other similar technology are using them to poach animals. Poaching is taking of an animal illegally either when the hunting season is not opened or outside the hours of hunting. Hunting seasons and hours are set to protect the animals during the times of the year or day when they are the most vulnerable. By using technology that allows a hunter to see at night one of natures main defenses is taken away. The ability to see in the dark is a sense that was meant for certain species, of which man is not one.

Many times hunters and other poachers get the idea of using these technical pieces of equipment from watching some of the high risk adventure shows that feature men out harassing animals in the wild. I do not understand these shows and quite frankly think they should be taken off the air. They give people the wrong idea of how animals should be treated and they also give the message that it is ok to harass animals in their dens, lairs or other places of safety. Unfortunately some people are going to try to copy some of the stunts that are pulled on shows like these however they will not have a full camera crew along to aid them if things go badly. This means that either the person or the animal is going to get hurt. This type of high risk adventures are made more possible with all the tracking devices, and other technology that is now readily available. The only way to stop the crazy behavior is to have extreme monetary and criminal sentences for the person that is caught. Hunters are in agreement with this also because these kind of people running around in the wild take away from the true sport of hunting.
