Stumble It! When I was younger, the house burglar alarm with little more than something to make my parents feel more comfortable. It wasn't a fully functional window security alarm. Instead, it was a pretty simple and primitive device. Basically, it would only go off if someone broke in through the door. There were many accessible windows, but for some reason my parents never invested in more comprehensive security alarms. As a matter of fact, they hardly ever turned on the security alarm they had in the first place! It did not seem to matter much to them. We lived in a pretty safe neighborhood and, anyway, is something went wrong they could always push the panic button.

My situation is a lot different than theirs was. I don't live in a very good neighborhood. You see, I stayed in my hometown, but the hometown changed. It went downhill and, although I'm reluctant to leave, I definitely need more sophisticated home security alarms. fortunately, they have come a long way. Nowadays, even advanced technologies like motion detector alarms are well within the reach of your average consumer. In my case, I use a pretty simple but effective security system. There are bars on the windows, reinforced and double bolted doors, and a burglar alarm that covers every window, door, and other possible entrance to the house. I have it tested twice a year to make sure it works well. So far, I have been more than satisfied.

As a matter of fact, I had occasion to make sure that the security alarm worked well just recently. Someone was actually trying to break into my house, and it seemed to be a pretty sophisticated operation. Apparently, they had been casing the house for weeks and, when I went on a weekend business trip, they took that as an opportunity to move in . Although they had some pretty sophisticated techniques, and managed to pry bars off the windows without arousing too much suspicion, when they broke a window they triggered a silent alarm. I bet they surprised when, just as they were packing up my valuables to go, the cops showed up!

Of course, your home security alarm can get as sophisticated as you want it. One of my friends is quite paranoid, and he employs technology that is usually only used by museums and other businesses with serious security threats. He actually has a security cage built into his house! Things are not quite so high tech in my house, but it is secure enough for me to feel safe.
